Real-World Impact at Derby City Council 

Our work with Derby City Council exemplifies the transformative potential of AI in the public sector. Most recently, we've launched the UK's first public sector generative AI phone assistant with Derby City Council – a landmark achievement in bringing AI into everyday service delivery. 

The next generation of "Darcie," Derby's digital helper, now offers more natural, context-aware conversations with complex, multi-part questions, supports adult social care queries, and provides 24/7 multilingual support in 10 languages including Urdu, Polish, Punjabi, and Arabic. Initial results have been remarkable, with transferred call volumes dropping by 84% during peak times on its first day of operation and 57% of all enquiries successfully answered or deflected by AI. 

This collaboration has even been recognised in Parliament by Luke Murphy MP, highlighting the role we're playing in digital public service reform and elevating the profile of ethical AI adoption at the highest levels of government. By prioritising accessibility, oversight, and individual outcomes, Derby's AI Transformation Programme is setting a powerful example for councils nationwide.
