ICS.AI joined colleagues from Cheshire East Council today at the council’s staff event at Tatton Park, engaging directly with employees from across the organisation about the next stage of the council’s AI transformation programme.

The event brought together staff from across the council and provided an opportunity for ICS.AI to demonstrate how new AI tools will support everyday work across the council.

Supporting Staff Through AI Transformation

Throughout the day, the ICS.AI team spoke with staff about CoCo, Cheshire East’s Staff Copilot, which forms a key part of the council’s AI rollout.

The tool is designed to help employees with everyday tasks such as:

  • drafting responses

  • summarising case notes

  • answering policy questions

  • producing reports

By supporting these routine activities, this gives staff more time to focus on complex, high-value work supporting residents.

Live demonstrations and informal conversations allowed council employees to see how the tools work and ask questions about how AI will support them in their daily roles.

A Programme Delivered Across the Council

This work forms part of a wider AI transformation programme being delivered with Cheshire East Council, introducing AI capability across multiple directorates and service areas, including at the front-door where residents can access support over the phone and via the website with AI digital assistant CeCe.

Earlier in the programme, service design workshops were carried out across a number of teams to identify opportunities where AI could provide practical support for staff and improve operational efficiency.

These workshops produced a prioritised pipeline of use cases now being sequenced for delivery as the programme progresses.

ICS.AI previously announced the partnership earlier this year as part of its growing work with councils across the UK, and you can read that announcement here.

Engaging Staff in the Journey

For both ICS.AI and Cheshire East Council, the Tatton Park event was an opportunity to engage directly with the people who will use the technology every day.

Speaking about the event, Gareth Pawlett, Chief Information Officer at Cheshire East Council, said:

“AI transformation is ultimately about supporting our people to do their jobs more effectively. Events like today are an important opportunity for staff to see how these tools will work in practice, ask questions, and understand how AI will support them in delivering services for residents.”

This was supported by Mark Watson, Delivery Director at ICS.AI, who added:

“Today was about engaging directly with the people who will use these tools every day. AI transformation only succeeds when staff are confident, informed and involved. Events like this help us listen, answer questions and demonstrate how tools like CoCo can genuinely support people in their work.”

Looking Ahead

As the programme continues, ICS.AI and Cheshire East will work closely together to expand AI capabilities across the organisation, ensuring the technology is implemented in a secure, governed and practical way.

Events like the staff day at Tatton Park play an important role in building awareness, answering questions and helping staff understand how AI will support their work and improve services for residents.
